So Jasmine, welcome to Big Ticket Pros. What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in your industry?
[00:01:53] Speaker B: Thank you Anna. It's a pleasure to be here with you today.
I will say the first thing is connections networking, especially in my industry. I mean just like you mentioned in commercial real estate. So there is, it's a small pool of people who can really tap into that industry. But, but I always tell people like you are one connection away from a completely different life. You just need to show up over and over again and you know, connect with people. Connect with the people who are already doing what you want to do. And not only that, put yourself in rooms where people are doing 10 times what you are dreaming of. You know, when you expose yourself to that, you realize oh I was, I was thinking too small because there is other people in those rooms who are already completely living your dreams 10 times ahead. You know, so I will say that was what changed the trajectory in my career.
[00:03:09] Speaker A: That's awesome and I love it. To just go into a room and not be the biggest fish.
[00:03:15] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:03:16] Speaker A: Maybe Maybe be the smallest one or the medium one, but like, wherever there's room to grow in knowing people who have walked the walk again. Talk to talk. I think that's a really great advice that you're giving us.
What, Who. Or let me ask this.
What has been the greatest lesson that you've learned from networking or who have you met that has taught you the most? Or what have they taught you?
[00:03:52] Speaker B: Well, that's, you know, I have a lot, but I can tell you. So to start off, I was in real estate for. I've been in real estate for almost five years now, and I was looking for what else can I do in real estate? And I started connecting with everybody, and I met one of my business partners today, Mike Bailey, who is the principal of Massive Capital. And when he, When. When we met each other, I mean, he. He was starting, you know, like, he did close on four deals back then in one month. So he was kind of like overwhelmed. And I told him, like, I want to get in this. This is what I can bring to the table. This is my skill set. Do you think I can add value to you?
And you know that. That completely changed the trajectory one, because I knew what I. How I can help.
That's what he told me. You show up, you know, when you are in. In the. In the industry, and I'm pretty sure you get a lot of people as well. Like, how can I provide it to you? What can I do for you? And I was like, I don. I don't know you. I don't know what's your superpower? I mean, you're just giving me more work. But when you show up and you say, this is what I see, these are your gaps. This is, this is my skill set, and this is how I can help you, it completely changes the conversation. So when I approach him, I talk him like this. I have a couple degree, business degrees. My background is in sales.
I've been working for a real estate investment firm, and I talk to investors all the time. So I think I can do investor relations in the multifamily industry is just, of course, I need to learn all that, but this is where my skill set is. And he said yes. And that completely changed my life. He gave me the opportunity.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: That's really great. What I see here is that you went and you approached the person that you wanted to meet, let's say the. The person who has walked the walk to who you wanted to learn from, but you didn't go with the mindset of, what can I take you went with the mindset of building a relationship and offering reciprocity, which is really great. I think that's a really one of the ways to, to build a relationship authentically.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: Absolutely. So when I met him and when we decide, okay, let's, let's try to work together, like, it was probably like four months in that I was already, you know, adding value, trying to put all the puzzle pieces together, hiring people and doing a lot of work pretty much for free because we didn't know how I was going to be compensated because I wasn't looking for a job. I was looking for. But those deals that he already had, they were already closed. So I was doing work for those deals where I knew I didn't have a stake on those. And the future, nobody knows what's going to happen in the future, but the mindset that I had was like, first of all, I need to learn. I got to pay the ticket to learn. So if things don't work out here, at least I'm going to have the knowledge and I can go and work for somebody else, partner up with somebody else. But I already have the knowledge. And second, before I build myself, I need to build somebody else. I need to help somebody else. And of course, you know, thank God, you know, our partnership really worked. We are really aligned on our values, and, you know, it's been a success. But, you know, the reality is that it's not always like that.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: Right. And, you know, another thing that I think was awesome of you is that, yes, you went there with the mindset of learning, and if it didn't work out, at least you have learned something. But the first approach that you got was also, you were aware of your skill set like you knew yourself. And, okay, this is who I am. This is what I can bring to the table.
Can you use it?
[00:08:25] Speaker B: Exactly. And, you know, I, I always. I mean, of course we're in finance and we always talk to business owners, but the first investment is always in ourselves, in. In our skill set, because that gives you the confidence to talk to people or just to walk away from partnerships that are not adding value to you.
So you know what you lack of and you see what your strong side is. And it's like, okay, you know, I'm building a relationship that is going to be a win win for us. And if this doesn't work out, then it's okay. Somebody else needs your superpower. You just need to find.
[00:09:07] Speaker A: Right.
[00:09:07] Speaker B: The team.
[00:09:09] Speaker A: Yes. That's. That's awesome. Thank you so much for that. So, Jasmine, Tell us about who you serve and how people can reach out to you.
[00:09:16] Speaker B: Absolutely. I help business professionals. Business owners create wealth totally passive through real estate investments.
I have a portfolio of commercial real estate that involves multifamily assets and new construction for retail centers.
So everybody can invest who, who are just looking. You know, I tell I talk to business owners all the time. And as business owners most of the time we want to focus on the business, on making sure we make more money or scale the business. But at the same time, you got to, you got to put some money on the side to work for you so you're not working on your business all the time. So I help with that and people can reach out to me on any social media Jasmine Salinas or visit our web PA Massive Debt Capital and they will find our portfolio, all the projects that we have done and that we are doing great.
[00:10:22] Speaker A: So we're going to wrap from here. Thank you to Jasmine Salinas for joining us and sharing some wisdom about thriving in a competitive industry. You can learn more about what she does by visiting her on social media or going to massive capital.
