So Karen will welcome to Big Ticket Pros. In your experience, what is the best piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in your industry? [00:01:53] Speaker B: Ooh, that is such a great question. I would say the best piece of advice I can give is to tap into your heart, drop into your heart and really align with what matters to you. Because it doesn't matter how many strategies and tools you have in place, if you're not in a place where it feels good to you, they're just not going to work as well. When you're really in alignment and excited about what you're doing, that's usually going to lead to results. [00:02:24] Speaker A: I really love that. And I think that most people don't actually think about that. Like maybe they think, oh this is what I like to do and like I like this. But like I think that asking yourselves what do I want? What do I really want? And what do I what. What aligns to myself is not something that we typically ask ourselves. And it's usually not something very easy to. To answer it. [00:02:55] Speaker B: It can't. It can. It can be as simple as just asking yourself, is this something that excites me? Because I think what we tend to do when we have our businesses, when we're trying to get our clients, we're wanting to attract the right clients for us. We are all about doing, doing, doing. What else can I do? But we don't stop to see if it makes sense to us because there are so many different ways to do things, and we often think that there's only one way, or someone's always telling us to do it this way, and then we force ourselves to do it. And then you're doing it from an energy that isn't conducive to your brain. So your brain and your body is going to struggle to make it there. And so just as simple as stopping before you do anything. Does this excite me? Am I doing this from a place of excitement or am I doing it from a place of fear? That simple of a question can just change the trajectory of where you go with whatever it is, whatever choice you're making, as in your business. [00:04:02] Speaker A: You know, I really love that. And it's. I love. I really love that you broke it down into that simplicity. And I related to something. About a year ago, I opened a new business in. In. I was excited because I was like, all right, this is. I'm gonna do this, you know? And at some point, I realized that I was not in love with it. I mean, I enjoyed doing it because I enjoy learning and I enjoy the new things, but I was not enjoying actually doing it. And I kept doing it because I needed the money, whereas I went back to doing something that I like, and with a friend reached out to me. It was. The one that I think that I like is, like, taking pictures of buildings. And this friend reached out to me. She's a realtor. She was like, I need someone to take pictures of my. Of this house, and I need it, like, right now. Can you help? And my whole body said, no, you have no business doing that. But I said yes, and there was no money involved. I just said yes, because I like to help. But I was there, and my body felt like, oh, yes, you like this. And I. The point that I was going to make is that with the other thing that I was not really enjoying, but doing it because I wanted the money, I was actually acting out of scarcity. And the other one that my body was like, oh, yes, yes, girl, you like this. Even Though there was no money involved and it was just to help. It was acting out of abundance. [00:05:41] Speaker B: Absolutely. And it's those situations where you don't even realize that you're, you're doing this thing like, oh, I'm just doing it for fun. But that alone, because you're doing it out of fun and excitement. That person you met could lead you to the next best deal or could introduce you to someone, or just could get you to take the next steps to act on a business that actually works for you. And I think the way we tend to do it in general, what I see as a psychologist is we do it backwards. We do it because we have to, because we need the money, because we have to pay the bills. And of course we have to do that. But the paradox is that when you do it from a place of excitement and fun and it, it really feels good to you, the money shows up. And sometimes it shows up in ways that is not in green bills. It could show up in, in other ways. Maybe you want to travel, you end up with a free trip or whatever it is. Abundance shows up in many ways. So when we act from a place where the energy feels really good, you get so much more in the end and you end up spending less time doing. It's more, it's less stressful and just more fun and enjoyable the way it's supposed to be. And that's been my personal experience with everything. I can already tell when something's going to work out for me is if I'm feeling really, really excited about it. [00:07:10] Speaker A: That's awesome. I love that for you. When or how did you discover. Oh yes, this is what I want to do. This is what I. What excites me. [00:07:18] Speaker B: Well, that is a big question for me because I've, I love psychology. I've been in the fields of psychology since I was inside started college. So I've been in the field of psychology. Wow. About 25 years now, which I can't believe it's already been that long. And I knew when I was five years old, but. [00:07:38] Speaker A: You look like 27. Thank you. You look like 27. Thankyou. [00:07:45] Speaker B: 25 years. But when I was about five years old, I knew I wanted to be a doctor just. And I actually followed through with that. I just didn't know what kind. And I took a course in, in college in, in psychology and I fell in love and I stuck with it and I've been in it ever since. Now psychology is a broad term. There's so much you can do in the Field of psychology, passion, first and foremost has always been children, especially really, really young children. And so that's the route that I took and that I've known. God, again, same goes back to probably when I was in high school. [00:08:25] Speaker A: I love how you followed your heart because I, I sense that that's what it took for you to get there, to follow your heart. Yes, sometimes we, we learn to just ignore it. [00:08:38] Speaker B: Yes, you are absolutely right. I think there were so many steps along the way where I didn't think I was going to be able to follow through or there were obstacles or I can't continue or whatever, lack of resources. And I just kept following that next, that feeling that calling and the resources would show up. I think it ties right back to what we were saying earlier, that when you follow your excitement, you follow your passion. The resources you need show up when they need to, not when you want them to, because you think you want them at a certain time, but they show up when you need them. And it's often like right at the last moment, you're like, ah, I did it and it shows up. [00:09:20] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:09:20] Speaker B: And so that's, that's how I, I try my best to live my life. And again, when I do it in that sense, the resources always show me the next step. It's like, okay, now you can go to this next level and this next. [00:09:32] Speaker A: Level that is exciting for you to describe it like that, that you're following your heart or you're following your excitement, and maybe you want something to show up and it's not there, but you keep going because that's what you want to do and that's what you like. And then at the very last, when you're on the edge, there it is. It sounds magical, but I've been there in. Yes, I think, yeah, it does. [00:10:02] Speaker B: And that's exactly what I say. I always say it feels like magic, it feels like sorcery, but the more you do it, the more it happens and the more you expect it. So I'm at a point in my life where I've been practicing just being more blind to this inner guidance and this faith that it's. It's not, it's not. It doesn't feel as magical anymore. It still is magical, but it's like, of course, of course there it is. Because I followed my excitement, I followed my passion, and I relied on something so much greater than me to show me the way. And it works all the time. [00:10:41] Speaker A: And I, I want to add, yes, faith, but also faith in yourself. [00:10:46] Speaker B: Yes, Always faith in yourself. [00:10:49] Speaker A: Sometimes, yeah. Oftentimes when. When we don't believe in ourselves or we don't have faith in ourselves, we don't bet on ourselves. That's when we quit. [00:10:59] Speaker B: I would say that's probably the most important part of it. And I. I have a hard time separating it all because I think. I believe that everything is rooted in connectedness. Everything. [00:11:09] Speaker A: Every. [00:11:09] Speaker B: Every problem we have, every challenge we experience, anything in life that isn't feeling pleasant to us for one reason or another is because we're disconnected. We're disconnected from something, and oftentimes we're disconnected from ourselves. So it's trying to figure out, okay, where is that disconnection? What am I disconnected from? I might be disconnected from myself, disconnected from my body, disconnected from so many things. I think earlier you mentioned that you felt it in your body, and so it told you what to do next. And we don't really think about that, but in that moment, you were connected to your body and. And that led you to something that you found enjoyable. And probably there's a lot more to your story there. But that disconnection is always a key. What am I disconnected from? And if we can figure that out and we can reconnect. And I would say wholeheartedly that being connected to yourself, to your inner being, it's all integrated, all very connected and. [00:12:13] Speaker A: Intertwined into one that is super interesting. I never thought about that. Like, a connection to your body. Like, if you're connected to it and you follow it, then you find. I won't say happiness, because I relate happiness to mental peace. But, I mean, you know more about that than I do. But I also feel like whenever we're in a certain situation in our life and we try to, like, push back, that's when we suffer the most. And when we, like, just let it go and flow, go with the flow. It will take us to wherever we need to be. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Absolutely. I love the way you said that. And I think that's something else that's so important to tie into this discussion is that the reality is we're human. We're never going to be 100% happy or joyful. That's just impossible. It's not realistic, and that's not ever what I preach or stand for. Because every emotion that we have is important. If it's an uncomfortable emotion, it's important. If it's comfortable and it's great, it's important because every emotion brings a message. And so when we feel uncomfortable with our emotions, when I don't like to call them negative because I don't think they're negative. But when we feel those emotions that we don't like, we have a tendency to push them away. And when we do that, they just get bigger and bigger and bigger. And because I see them as these little, they come and knock at your door like, hello, I'm here, I have a message for you. And you're like, nope, I don't want anything to do with you. But when you actually invite them in and ask them why they're there, fear, that tends to be a big one in business. Right. We're so scared to take the next step or to do the thing and we talk to. Sounds a little silly, but you'd be surprised how often and quickly you get a response, whether it's a visual, a message, an image, something that tells you why the fear is there. And when you can figure out that belief that the fear is holding, it really dissipates, sometimes completely disappears within seconds. And so being able to embrace those parts of us that don't feel great when we're in that really deep, yucky feeling is going to help us move from it much faster when we embrace it and see it as positive versus as something unwanted. [00:14:39] Speaker A: This is awesome, Karen. So tell us about who you serve and how people can reach out to you. [00:14:45] Speaker B: Absolutely. I serve expecting parents and parents that have children five and under. That is my passion is really focusing on the little ones because that's where your, your values every the way you see yourself, the world and, and everything is formed. It's in those early years. So that's why I'm so passionate about those early years. And so I, I am actually about to launch one of my workshops to help parents learn how to connect deeply with their children and how to raise their level of confidence. And so I'm launching that here in a couple days. And if you want to learn more about it, pretty much all socials are at Lumitot. L u m I t o t. You can find me on socials website.
